My energy level doesn’t match the copious amounts of items, nor choices for various color schemes.

So I chose pieces that reflect my everyday decor, and simply added just a touch of bronze and warm saffron yellow.

Perfect.

I’m in an incredibly busy season of lots of moving parts.

Bringing in Fall decor instantly added to the busyness - and my stress - instead of welcoming the usual calm of Fall leaves and cozy blankets.

This is my very first time to contract a home reno

This is my very first time to contract a home renovation. My husband and I are mostly DIY-ers. A project this size required the Pro’s! HOWEVER, our part requires daily decision making, plan revising, calming my nerves, stifling my eagerness, and PRAYING that everything looks as good out in the world, as it does in your designer head! 🤯 It can get a little panicky to know that some things (ceiling design, stone selection), are truly a “one and done” situation. It has to be right the first time. That keeps me up at night. It looks gorgeous in my head. 🤣 Let’s keep going and see how it all plays out. Also, a dangerous heat wave does not scare my crew away. Apparently the rain does. They’re pretty talented and amazing so I hope they’re kicking back and napping away their day off on this rainy day! 🥰

WAKE UP, Sunshine! ☀️ I’ve got a way to get you up and at it this summer! It starts with a breakfast that is jam-packed with ENERGIZING SUPERFOODS!

I’m the QUEEN of dragging myself into my morning. Give me all the coffee and a cozy blanket. 😴 I needed to change that. I knew it was setting the pace for my whole day.

By getting back to what I KNOW is good for me - an energizing breakfast - I’ve noticed less of that afternoon slump. And I am able to tackle my day much easier.

🍓HERE’S A TIP:
Keep it super simple! By complicating things, you might not stay with it. Begin by pouring your blended smoothie right into a bowl.

Now, here’s the best part! 😍
Top it with your favorite fruit, nuts, seeds - whatever you love! The fiber is SOOOO good for us!

🍊HERE’S ONE MORE:
Did you know that some fats are GOOD for you? Don’t get on that Fat-Free Train! Opt for Monounsaturated Fatty Acids (MUFA’s) that provide insulin control, lower blood pressure, curb appetite, and more!

Try avocado, seeds, dark chocolate, coconut chips, or peanut butter on your next smoothie bowl!

Our new outdoor living space is slowly becoming it

Our new outdoor living space is slowly becoming its beautiful self! This has been a TWO YEAR project in the making!

After a terrible discovery that we had a sinking foundation, our original deck had to come down, for giant jacks to come in and jack up our house!!!

Then, it was a combination of "Do we replace the deck?" "Do we create something new?" Do we just throw some grass seed out there and sell the house?"

We decided to build a really great space, that we can enjoy for most of the year.

And when we do sell, it will be a fantastic selling feature. Who wouldn't love a backyard living space all ready to sit and enjoy!!?

I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE FINISH LINE!!

We have THE BEST contractor, foreman, and builders in coastal Virginia!

As a DIY-er type girl, this job required the big guns to come in with their years of experience and expertise! Not even kidding that these people have a combined several hundred years of experience. I don't belong in their club!😂

But, it’s all really ok! I can put my hammer away and go sit down.

I’m busy working on the aesthetics! The fun part! The “jewelry” for this beautiful space!

I'm shopping for all the things - ceiling fans, outdoor furniture, outdoor rugs, outdoor decor!

Today, electricity happened and the
🔥🔥🔥🔥fireplace🔥🔥🔥🔥 is on its way to being a million feet tall! What a show-stopper it will be!

The deck joists are in and ready for inspection. And then… Trex in the shade Biscayne boards get installed! We chose grooved boards for a seamless look - no screws will show! AHH! So pretty!

We have these windows along the back wall of the house - right where the addition is going 😏

THE GIVE: The purpose of that new roof is to provide essential outdoor shade in the heat of summer and shelter from a rainy day.

THE TAKE: We have these gorgeous, tall windows along the back wall of the house. Tons of light pours in! If we get snow, we feel like we’re in a snow globe! I’m giving up a little piece of that natural light inside, at the very top of the windows, to gain a 3-season living space outside.

I’m having a “Trust The Process” kind of day! 😬

I’m not a master carpenter. I didn’t go to a trade school to learn to install tile. I dabble in paint on a canvas, but I don’t call myself a “ gifted artist”. But, I am up for a challenge. I trust myself. I seek the knowledge of skilled craftsmen. And YouTube is 100% my go-to source of motivation to Do It Myself. Believe you can!!! Pick up a new skill! Stand back and admire your work. And then, do it again!

You’re stressing, Girl! That’s why you’re here to see about getting that under control!

I get you! 😘 I really do. And my biggest stressor has been ELECTRONIC CLUTTER!

I couldn’t find anything!

Life has been coming at me fast while growing my Home Decor blog.

My phone, Very Quickly, became a dumping ground for all things “work and life”. I kept saying, “I’ll sort that out later.”

Only, I never did.

So, I stopped the madness.

But first, tap the “save” and “follow” buttons, so you can catch more Stress Madness Conquering Tips

Let’s get you sorted out!
Set aside time every 3 months to organize your emails,
computer files, and phone pics.

1.) Mark your calendar for time set aside to purge your emails.
* Enter a keyword in your email search bar. Check all the emails you no longer need and do a bulk trash dump.
* Unsubscribe to all the addresses you don’t correspond with.
* Create a file in your email dashboard to quickly locate important, and often-used addresses.

2.) Create another block of time on your calendar to purge and sort computer files.
* Check your hard drive for duplicate docs. I bet you have many. Every time you re-download that recipe, it creates a new file.
* Speaking of files, create them for items you need to grab quickly.
* Use that bookmark tool on your search engine! You will save a ton of time by simply tapping that saved bookmark for an often-referenced website.

3.) I’m a blogger. I have A TONNNN of phone pics! Was I creating albums of my work?

NOPE!

I spent hours trying to locate videos and still shots. Creating albums, and getting in the habit of immediately sending my pics and vids to an album has saved me.

* Every 3 months, go through your pics and delete old screenshots you don’t need, duplicate pics, and then, get your prized pics and vids in those albums!

Doing these 3 things will minimize a disorganized workflow and keep you from being overwhelmed.

We live in coastal Virginia. A year ago, we learne

We live in coastal Virginia. A year ago, we learned our home’s foundation was sinking.

SINKING!!😳

Our home needed foundation experts to bring in expensive equipment to jack up the house.

This required our amazing 3-level deck to be removed, as well as, our gorgeous Red Tip shrubbery.

My husband designed and built that huge “party” deck himself. We did have some wonderful gatherings out there. Navy squadron parties, our grandson’s first birthday party, and a catered dinner party for 100, for our son and daughter-in-law’s rehearsal dinner were among the highlights of this beautiful backyard retreat.

And now, it’s all gone.

We moved on to other projects, (check out my “Foyer Reveal” reel) so that we could carefully ponder exactly what we want to replace our backyard living area.

And now, the plans are in place. Turns out, the new area will have a completely new vibe! It’s all very exciting!

Look how BRIGHT these lights are!
I did a deep dive into solar landscape lighting, so you don’t have to! I was tired of wires that did not withstand the weather. I was over the constant burned-out bulbs. Wired Landscape lighting was a costly nightmare for us.

So, I got busy researching…

😎I did not want junk.
😎My solar landscape lights had to stay on for several hours.
😎Must be weatherproof and waterproof!

I found everything I was looking for in these lights!

They set up in seconds and elevate our landscape beautifully!

I’M THRILLED!!

My husband is up before dawn and says several of them are still lit many, MANY hours after they turned on the night before! Success!

Here’s an easy way to create your calm-
1. Head to the paint department of your local hardware store. Select 2 colors that truly speak to you. Add 2 more neutrals, such as, black, white, gray, tan. Pick some metallics that you love! I love brushed gold and brushed nickel.

2. Select decor elements in your 2 colors. Then, use your 2 neutrals as your backdrop for those colors.

3. The metallics you select are the "jewelry" for your spaces!

4. Even if your rooms are used for completely different purposes, you can still create flow! I use a lot of gray and white in my home, so my playroom is gray and white! And, it’s a really fun playroom! 😎
