The better I eat, the more I want to eat better! Funny how that works, right? Over the past couple of years, I was casting aside all the tools and knowledge that I had learned about clean, healthy eating. In an effort NOT to use the pandemic as the popular go-to excuse to finding my hand in the bottom of a potato chip bag, I’ve got to say, it was a contributor. We all became faceless, friendless people isolated in our bubbles. That’s gotta make me want to run for the pantry and pull out all the comfort food! I also had three surgeries last year. We went in to survival mode, to get me through all of that.
We did the best we could. Admittedly though, ice cream and milkshakes were part of my healing process!
But, now I’m back on the Healthy, Clean Food Train! I’m noticing a whole lot less slugginess, fatigue, and grouchiness!! YAY Superfoods!
Let’s talk about what superfoods do for our skin, though! I’m on a mission to stay my beautiful self, as well and feeling great, far into my golden years!
Here are some GREAT foods to start getting your glow on!
- fatty fish. Fatty fish, such as salmon, mackerel, and herring, are excellent foods for healthy skin. These sources of superfoods reduce inflammation and help with acne-prone skin.

- avocados. Avocados are high in healthy fats. Avocados moisten your skin from the inside!
- walnuts – These nuts offer LOTS of Vitamin E, Zinc, and Omega 3 fatty acids. Zinc is helpful is keeping our skin barrier healthy.
- egg whites – Eggs naturally contain collagen, the secret ingredient behind fine lines and wrinkles!
- broccoli. .- Broccoli is a powerhouse for protection against skin cancer! It has a property, called sulforaphane, that helps protect our skin from sun damage.
- blueberries – Blueberries are packed with flavonoids that helps maintain the structure of skin. They also contain anti-cancer properties to keep our skin healthy.
