I switched to baking soda. As part of my quest to live clean, I got curious about the hype behind why baking soda is a staple for cleaning. The hype is real! So I stocked up on a jumbo amount of baking soda and got busy. This is my FAVORITE brand, by the way! I now have a bag in my kitchen and in my bathroom stash of cleaning supplies. I tried it out in some “curious” places, and here’s what I found ~
Windows
I can get my window cleaning job done, using baking soda!! This is especially useful on kitchen windows! Simply wet a microfiber cloth, (because they are lint-free), add some baking soda to your cloth, smear the baking soda on your windows and wipe with a clean, damp cloth! It’s that easy! What you will notice is any grease build-up will be gone!
Coffee Stained Mugs
Coffee girl, here. It’s my jam. Especially when I drink it from a mug that reminds me of my strength on days when I feel as though I don’t have any. But…I get those ugly stains in the bottoms of my mugs, that even a tough dishwasher pod won’t touch. I mean, technically, I know it’s just a stain and it’s sanitized, but still. You know what I mean. I tackled all of my coffee mug stains with baking soda! I sprinkled it in my mugs, scrubbed with a scouring pad and stains were GONE!!
Laundry
I’ve gotten away from chemical-laden laundry detergent. But, I have to admit, I missed that amaaaaazing scent! Somehow, I equate laundry soap smell with clean laundry. I add one cup of baking soda to every load. It will not fade your dark loads. What it will do, is eliminate lingering odors, (que the sweaty workout clothes smells), and just give your laundry a freshness you expect!
Unclog A Drain
For this, you will add baking soda’s best bud, vinegar. Heat a cup of vinegar in the microwave. And then, heat up a 2 cups of water to boiling. Add a few tablespoons of baking soda to the drain. Pour your hot vinegar down the drain. Let it all sit for 15 minutes. The chemical reaction of these two agents will fizz and really go to work of that icky grease clogging your drain. After that, pour your boiling hot water down the drain! Bye Bye slow drain!
